Having been asked to bowl by the oppo, PSCC went about trying to restrict Ley Hill on a warm day and green wicket. Charlie bagged the opener with a superb top of off delivery to leave LH 6 for 1. Partnerships of 54 and 51 followed at 5 and over, but then regular wickets started to fall as they fell from 136-3 to 205 all out. 3 for Knoxy including carbon copy catches for Juppy at extra cover, 2 for Charlie, and 2 for Jillian. Worth mentioning 1 for Tyler in the context of 2 for Jillian...🤫
LH had a standout batsman who carried his bat for a well deserved, effortless ton (hard caught and bowled chance by Archie aside). He certainly gave them a total to defend.
Some tight bowling and an all round excellent fielding performance by the whole team, restricted Ley Hill to 205 for 9 from their 40 overs. Fielding shoutouts to Tyler (panther like in the covers), Jillian (for not letting anything past her) and Rocco (for making the ground and nearly catching a worldie).
Our batting started with the contrasting styles of Ben Cross and Rob Sutherland, working perfectly together to put on 84 for the first wicket, at nearly 6 an over. Rob was bowled for 15 but had helped build a perfect platform to chase 205. While wickets fell Ben Cross went about securing his maiden centrury in any form of cricket, with a mixture of stylish strokeplay and bludgeoning. Jupp Snr and Jnr fell cheaply, bringing skipper for the day, Alistair, to the wicket, still needing 82 to win. Ben finally departed somewhat tamely having scored an excellent 112 off 97 balls, taking PSCC to the brink of victory.
Vish came and went leaving Alistair to score the winning runs, taking him to 53 not out off 29 balls. Not bad for an old man!
On a personal note, huge thanks to all involved for a match and celebration that will live long in my memory #50at50 ❤️
