There was a little bit of a mismatch between the two teams, but as always Penn Street played in the right spirit and were fearless in the face of some of the fastest and most accurate bowling in their short careers.
Our fielding was on point again, expertly marshalled by captain Jess, with some great stops by Aimee and Dylan on the boundary. Wilf took two wickets in his first over (1st & 6th balls), Kiera picked up a wicket, caught by Jonty (her brother) with an amazing catch on the boundary, and Albie and Rex also picked up wickets, clean bowling the batsmen. Backing up was something the coaches had asked them to be focused on, and they sure did us proud - sometimes running in from the boundary to back up!
Batting was a challenge against their bowlers, but Albie and Sam’s partnership set a great foundation, and Sam's 3 boundaries on the spin, will I'm sure be talked about over many future dinnertimes. And Nathan's ramp shot was one for the PS greatest shots album! It was tough for the other partnerships but there was some great shots played, and some quick cheeky singles, causing chaos in the HW field as well as the odd boundary.
It was great to hear the encouragement from the juniors when things weren't going our way, credit to captain Jess for being vocal and keeping smiles on their faces. This was evident after the game, as you will see from the photos.
