Gerrards Cross 376-4 (O. Penton 105, B. Hunt 97; J. Slade 1-44) beat Penn Street 115-9 (N. Loftus 28; J. Grewel 4-17) by 261 runs
Gerrards Cross turned up for this CCC fixture with a team that was supposedly "medium weak". Granted, they were all 19 or under, but most of them had also played for Bucks under-19s, and their opening batsman was until recently Bucks' under-19 Captain.
It is to the credit of our largely young side that they stuck at a very difficult task against cricketers who had much more experience than they did - 375-4 is still a big total, but given that some of our opponents may feature in the Bucks county side before long, it was still respectable and if we had held some more catches it could have been even better.
Gerrards Cross's bowling was slightly weaker than their batting but still very effective. Nick Loftus' 28 was very impressive in the circumstances, and Steve Smith and Calum Sempill can be very proud that their club highest scores of 20 and 21 respectively were scored against such a strong opposition.
