Penn Street vs Langford

Penn Street 220-9 (C. Fletcher 68, M. Bannister 36) beat Langford 120-10 (P. Goodchild 4-27) by 100 runs

2 defeats in 2 days called for desperate measures and a day was spent at Worcester County Ground watching the South Africans hoping to pick up a few tricks. Could the skills of the professionals rub off on us?

Winning the toss Juppy and Cherriott went out to bat with a point to prove and both built solid foundations that were followed up by useful scores by Matt Reavey and Matt Bannister. The innings was crowned by a gem of an innings by Chris Fletcher who smashed the bowling to all parts including a couple of huge sixes into neighbouring cow fields, leaving Goody nervous. A useful total of 220 plus was posted in this quiet part of the Cotswolds as we ate tea quietly confident.

Hoping to intimidate the opposition by taking the fields in Zinc face cream we sadly ended up looking like anaemic clowns. However this still gave the opposition a fright as batsmen were dispatched at regular intervals by a combination of good balls by Reece, Simon and Grant and sheer luck by Goody who bowled a ball off the pitch that the batman somehow hit to point. The end was soon to come and the tour was wrapped up with a win. We had shown that we had learnt something from Ntini and co on Saturday so where are our test call ups Vaughny?
